What to Wear to a Mom’s Night Out
By Betsy, Editor, Funky Mama Bird, (@funkymamabird)
I love Mom’s Night Out. No. That’s not strong enough. Mom’s Night Out is my lifeline, my oxygen, my one and only chance to get out of the house some months. To put on lipstick and heels and feel like someone other than “Mama” for a few hours.
Dressing for Mom’s Night Out, at least in my area, is done with care. We go All.Out. to make sure we are making the most of this day. So when Shabby Apple asked me to review one of their dresses, I knew just where I would wear it.
I chose the Cider dress; I love orange.
I knew this dress would be perfect for my one night out a month, and it totally was. The fabric is thin, but stretchy, letting me move easily. The color is very vibrant, and the ruffles around the neck were a fun touch. The other moms were completely in love as well; I spent the first ten minutes I was there repeating, “Shabby Apple” and “I know; it’s fabulous” over and over again. Want to see the best part?
The zipper is what totally sold me. That little dash of purple was the perfect touch, even though I wound up covering it with a cardigan for most of the spring evening.
Looking for something to wear to a Mom’s Night Out? Go bold, go all out and go over to Shabby Apple to see what they have to offer; you won’t be disappointed.

Maternity Fashion For The Holidays
By Lauren Connelly, Staff Writer, My Baby Clothes Boutique
As if the holiday season isn’t already exciting enough, expecting a new baby makes this time of year just that much more special. But just because you have an ever-expanding waistline doesn’t mean you can’t be fashionable for the festivities. Being pregnant doesn’t give you an excuse to throw on your stretched out sweats and leave the house looking like a frumpster. At the same time, you don’t have to sacrifice comfort to look nice. Goodness knows no woman wants to wear panty hose when they’re with child!
The key to dressing up with a bump is to wear separates coordinated with the perfect accessories. But what about a fancy dress you say? Remember, a dress requires those dreaded panty hose. Along the same vein of thought, short skirts are out too. A few pairs of stylish maternity trousers or long skirts in neutral colors will take care of your lower half. Where you can really shine is on top! There are plenty of gorgeous, and dare I say, sexy maternity blouses out there to wear with your trousers. Avoid the granny-like appliqued sweaters and at the other end of the spectrum, anything too low-cut and vulgar. Find a happy medium and finish your outfit off with beautiful accessories, like scarves, jewelry and lovely ballet flats or kitten heels.
Being an expectant Mom doesn’t mean your days of looking stylish and glamorous are over. Be smart about how you dress and you, too, can look like a million bucks for the holidays!

Time To Buy A Great Winter Hat
By Summer Minor, Staff Writer, My Baby Clothes Boutique
It is time to start getting winter baby clothes, and this winter is going to be all about the fun and funky; no more boring old plaid and wool numbers. This winter, let your kids stay warm in style. For your baby hats, check out My Baby Clothes Boutique. They were featured by Baby’s First Year on About.com as one of the top 12 hottest hats for children this season.
The rebel look has caught on, and boys and girls of all ages are rocking it. Skull and cross bones, wild animal prints, and rock star designs are taking over everything. That includes your baby hats! Look for hats featuring guitars, stars, peace signs and more to really let your wild one’s personality shine through.
Of course, some girls just want to be frilly and playful, even in the winter months. The flower headband trend is making its way into winter, becoming the flower hat trend. Big bold flowers adorn the sweetest hats that your little girl could wear. And if she wants something even more fun, poofs of exotic marabou feathers add a glamorous look to a basic winter hat. These hats will look so cute she won’t want to put her hood up no matter how much it’s snowing!
Handmade knitted hats also a big hit for kids. No matter how old they are, nothing is sweeter than a knit stocking cap on a chilly day. If you can’t knit yourself and don’t have a fairy-grandmother on standby, you can still give your kids a simple knit or crochet hat that will look great all season. The winter months will be here before you know it; it is time now to start planning out your children’s winter wardrobes. Long sleeved baby clothes, toasty winter jacket and a great hat will make the colder months easier to get through. Just because the kids have to be bundled up, doesn’t mean they can’t look good!

The Me Makeover
by Megan M., Contributor, All A Bunch Of Momsense (@taxmegan)
Can we be honest here for just a minute?
I’m jealous.
You see, I have quite possibly the worst fashion sense ever.
Not really, but sort of. I’m totally a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl. I don’t wear make-up most days. I have to force myself to have my hair cut with some semblance of a style so I don’t live in a ponytail.
I’m really just lazy, which is reflected in my appearance more than I’d like it to be. Oh, and I spend all my money on my kids, which means I don’t have much to spend on a wardrobe for me.
I don’t need to look like a top end model; I just want to look like a grown-up. I have some solid pieces that work great, but I need to build on that. I need to convince myself that some lip gloss and mascara won’t eat into my morning twitter and coffee time too much. I have got to remind myself that I’m worth a few dollars and a few minutes!
So here’s the deal. I need to know how you do it. I mean, how do you mom’s who look so good manage to, well, look so good?
What great shops do you know about where a mom on a budget can pick up a few pieces?
What are your can’t live without products and pieces?
How much time do you give yourself in the morning to pull your look together?
Talk to me, ladies. I know you’re out there. And if you are in MY boat? Let’s ride this out together. We are worth it!
Kindergarten Fashion Tips
By Summer Minor, fashion consultant for My Baby Clothes Boutique, Special Guest
When your little one is ready to head off to school, there are dozens of worries on your mind. Somewhere on the list, what your kindergartner is going to wear will crop up. Going to school is the big time, and will those same playhouse looks from toddlerhood hold over?
When you are planning out your new kindergartner’s school year wardrobe, here are a few tips to help you make the best choices.
Shoes may be one of the most important decisions that you can make. Kindergarten often involves a lot of running, climbing, and playing. Comfortable shoes with no-slip soles are a necessity to get your little one through the day.
Because their feet are still growing, parents should also look for shoes that are flexible to move with developing feet. And, despite the trend, skip the kitten heels for little girls!
Choose clothes that are easy to pull on and off. Your kindergartner may not have a tight grasp on using the bathroom yet, and can’t exactly holler for mom from down the hall.
For little girls, leggings and tights are in fashion but can be an obstacle if they are too tight or made from thin fabrics. When in doubt, choose the easiest thing you can find.
No matter how cute the outfit may seem, skip the dress-up stuff for school days. Kindergarten is a time of painting, gluing, and kickball. Chances are you will not make it through the year without at least one thing ruined, and the odds are it will be the nicest thing you buy. Consider toddler clothes that are durable enough to handle the play, but will not make you cry if they get ruined.
Finally, do not be afraid to let your kindergartner’s style come out! Fashion is about having fun, even at a young age. Let your little ones experiment with colors, patterns, layers, and styles. Chances are, she will not be the only one showing up with striped leggings under a polka dot skirt!
