Fun and Stylish Watches for Moms
What mom doesn’t want a great watch — unlike your cell phone clock, a watch stays put while you’re balancing kids, groceries! What woman wants to spend hundreds of dollars on a watch that may quickly become damaged while wrestling with the kids? Moms make note: if you know where to look and how to shop, you can even find vintage and designer watches at discounted prices!
Which Brands should You Look For?
Chances are that if you’re looking for an affordable watch, designer or not, you’re not looking to spend $1,000 on a used Rolex. If that is indeed the case, which brands should you be looking at? There are dozens of great watches for moms that won’t break the bank, even if you get stuck paying retail. Here are some to consider:
30 Seconds- Swatch: available at the local mall, Swatch watches have been popular for years.
- Fossil: look for the swatch case and then look one or two cases over; that’s where you’ll find Fossil.
- Guess: again, you’ll find this watch grouped with the Fossil and Swatch offerings.
- Timex: you can find Timex watches almost everywhere, from your local big box store to the jewelry counter at your mall.
Any one of these brands has several watches available for less than $100; some for even less than $50. While you may not get the latest in technology or a watch that looks like you just walked off the set of Star Trek, you’ll come away with a fantastic watch.
Where should You Look?
You don’t have to shop at Nordstrom’s or Tiffany & Co to find a fabulous timepiece; you can find great watches at the local mall or even at Target. If you aren’t going to be happy with a Timex or a Swatch, look online! Craigslist and eBay can be a great source of discounted designer watches, as can jewelry store’s sites – simply look to the clearance or sale section for the best deals.
A word of warning: before buying any watch, either used or at a discount online, familiarize yourself with how to spot a knock-off. If a deal seems too good to be true, beware. Don’t get conned into buying a fake Seiko for a couple of hundred dollars when you could have a new, properly functioning watch of a different brand for much less.
Which Style to Choose?
The type of watch you choose will depend on your needs and budget. The most mom-friendly watch by far is one with a casual strap and a sturdy face, either cloth or rubber. Look for a watch that will be able to stand up to your lifestyle, no matter what it is.
If you love to change up your look now and again, look for a watch with changeable wrist straps. Timex and Swatch both make watches that allow you to buy new straps at a fraction of the price of a brand new watch!
Fun and affordable watches are easy to find, if you know where to look and what to look for. Do a bit of research and look for fair pricing and arm yourself before you even walk into the store. Affordable doesn’t have to mean cheap; you can easily find a fabulous watch to fit into your budget.
