5 Twitter Tips for Outstanding Mompreneurs

Mompreneurs are the world’s new superwomen. If you’re a mom starting your own business, you probably feel like you do it all between running the errands, keeping up the house, interacting with your kids, and, of course, keeping up with your business. Sometimes, it’s difficult for mompreneurs to use social media tools like Twitter simply because they feel they don’t have time; other mompreneurs end up getting sucked into the feeling of connectedness they get from social media, and they let it dominate their time way too much!

If you want to be an outstanding mompreneur, you’ve definitely got to use social media tools like Twitter. However, these five tips will help you do it right!

Make a Tweeting schedule, and stick to it

One of the best ways to make sure you’re connecting through Twitter without being too connected all the time is to make a Tweeting schedule. It’s a good idea to Tweet for your business at least once a day, but you don’t want to Tweet too often, either. Play around with a schedule to see what works best for your business. You’ll know when your followers are regularly interacting with you and seem to look forward to your Tweets.

Your schedule might look different throughout the week. For instance, if you don’t run around after school as much on Tuesday and Thursdays, you might spend a bit more time interacting with your followers on these afternoons. In your Tweeting schedule, make sure you’re allowing for putting up new Tweets and also for replying to others’ conversations – both on your Twitter feed and on others that you follow.

Set up Tweets ahead of time on really busy days or weeks

If you know you’re going to be really busy on certain days or weeks, set up your Tweets ahead of time with auto posting software. It’s not hard to use, and you can even synch up software like Hootsuite to work with all your other social media accounts, too. This just takes planning, but you’re superwoman, and planning is the name of the game when it comes to being a mompreneur, right?

Create interactive Tweets

Make sure you’re keeping many of your Tweets interactive. Ask questions of your followers, and respond to mentions by other Tweeters. Post links asking your followers about their opinions on certain websites or directing them to good deals in your business or the businesses of others. Interactive Tweets will keep your followers more engaged and looking forward to your content! Not all of your Tweets need to be interactive, but at least half of them should invite some form of response.

Keep up with your analytics

Twitter is a business tool, but it’s only good as a tool when you can see what it’s actually doing for you. Check on your analytics regularly, and try to figure out what you can do to improve your Twitter experience and what it does for your mompreneur business. Make sure you keep up on your analytics especially when you make changes to the way that you Tweet!

Talk about home and your business both

Mompreneurs are inherently interesting people who live busy, multi-faceted lives. It’s okay to let your followers know this! In fact, if you post a bit about your personal or home life, your followers will feel more connected to you, making them more likely to buy products or services from your business. Again, finding the right balance here is crucial, so play around with different amounts of home-focused and business-focused posts to see what works best for you and your business.

Making Twitter work for your mom-based business isn’t difficult, but it does take practice and discipline. Using this social media outlet as a tool for your business is easy when you follow tips like these.

Daniela Baker with CreditDonkey says if you’re a mompreneur starting a new business, why not consider getting a business credit card? You could get good rewards from a card, and you could get the cash flow you need to keep your business growing and expanding.
