Let’s Go Glamping – Glamorous Camping on a Budget

Planning a vacation often takes a careful balancing of fun for the entire family with an eye to your budget. Dad wants a place to relax, the kids want fun activities to do, and Mom just wants a touch of luxury away from the strains of everyday life. You might think to get all this you’ll need to spend thousands of dollars at a luxury resort, but there is a less expensive option that can give you all the perks of a luxury vacation without the hefty price tag. You can take your family glamping.

A New Kind of Accommodation

What is glamping? It is the term for a new type of vacation that takes ordinary camping to a new glamorous level. Now, before you start getting visions of leaky pup tents, outhouse toilets, and fighting off the bugs, glamping is a completely different experience. Imagine staying in a tent the size of a large room and sleeping on 500 thread count sheets stretched over a deluxe mattress—instead of fidgeting on the hard ground in a musty sleeping bag that has been in your attic all year. You can still enjoy all the beauty that nature has to offer without going too far out of your comfort zone.

Destinations for the Whole Family

Give your kids a glamping vacation they will remember for years. At Bison Quest in Montana, your family can stay in an authentic “tipi” while enjoying sauna and hot tub facilities. By day you can interact with bison, visit ghost towns, and go whitewater rafting before returning to the a night of luxury sheets and home-cooked authentic ranch fare. At Cedar Creek Treehouse in Washington, your kids can stay in an actual tree house soaring 50 feet into the air above the lush forest canopy.

Romantic Retreats

Glamping isn’t just an adventure for the family, it can also offer a romantic and unique experience for couples as well. At Sage Safaris in Montana, you can have the exotic feel of an African adventure while enjoying all the comforts of a luxury hotel with fine linens and even wooden floors. You can prepare your own romantic dinners at the camp’s modern, fully equipped kitchen or leave the cooking to the catering service while enjoying your own private veranda.

Glamping Abroad

The price of a luxury vacation abroad can break the bank.  Glamping in another country can offer you the chance to experience a foreign vacation at a price you can afford, without sacrificing comfort or adventure. La Pomme Perdue located in France is set in an apple orchard in the foothills of the Pyrenees near Biarritz, the home of renowned beaches, shopping, and dining. Your personal “yurt” features a king sized bed, indoor/outdoor shower cabin and a private, well-equipped cooking area.

If the sandy beaches of France aren’t your cup of tea, you can experience where glamping began in the 1920′s, in East Africa’s famous Serengeti region. The Serengeti Migration camp in Tanzania offers spacious safari tents featuring lavish furnishings, hardwood floors, and private decked verandas. All of this is located near the path of the world’s largest mammal migration—for a vacation you would never forget.

Whatever your glamping destination, you’ll enjoy the privacy and luxury of unique stays in fabulous locations.  If you like the fresh air and outdoor environment of camping, yet hate the discomfort of cots and sleeping bags, then you’ll love the luxury of glamping.  Like hostels, glamping is easy on the budget, but it’s an exciting leap in privacy, comfort and fun!

Sylvia Martinez enjoys glamping as a way to save huge money on family vacations. She recently cashed out a structured settlement from a car accident and has plans to fulfill her dream of opening her own travel business soon. Instead of waiting for a long-term stream of payments, structured settlement companies allow you to use the money when you truly need it.
