Swim Diapers Leak?
So am I the only mom who doesn’t know that swim diapers don’t hold urine? This is a warning that should be on the label or something, don’t you think?
I took my little girl to play in a fountain at the local mall, so of course I put her in swim diapers. Before going, I thought I was being super smart by applying sunscreen and putting on her swimsuit at home. Cut down on the fight and time it takes to wrestle her away from the toilet while changing her clothes.
We met our playmates and decided to take a visit to Cold Stone first, then off to play in the water. As we are enjoying our ice cream, I notice that my little one’s shorts are wet. HMMM!! I guess she sat in some water. WRONG! I find a puddle in her chair and under it. UGHH!!! Off to the bathroom I tried to avoid, to give her a mini bath.
After my friend stopped laughing, she told me that swim diapers don’t hold urine. So, why are they required in pools? I guess poo is their only concern, so go ahead and pee in the pool! Apparently that isn’t a problem!
I wonder how many unsuspecting swimmers have been around a little one when they tested out their swim diapers?

A lot of places won’t let you have a disposable swim diaper in their facilities. You have to have a child trained, OR you have to have those special re-usable ones that are plastic on the outside, but have the absorbent material on the inside.
My son still uses one this year, since he has just been trained – but it holds urine once he’s in the pool. There’s been a couple of times when I’ve removed it, there’s a little pee in it.
I just tell my mother to put a little extra chlorine in the pool after our visits!

Love it! Makes you think twice about the public pool, doesn’t it?
And really? They do not do that great at holding in poo – especially on a breastfed baby. Thank god my baby girl is now five!
OMG! I didn’t know about the poo issue, I wondered. Especially since some poo can be very liquidy – YIKES! I still have a few more years in diapers, UGH!!!
Yes, today I discovered the same and I am pissed (and my daughter was too – literally!) about it! How is that allowed on the market?! WTF???
I think I’m just going to use regular diapers – sure it will swell up like a balloon but we won’t be peeing in the water
I agree! I have tried the regular diaper, not so good
She looked like she had a basketball in her diaper and she couldn’t walk. Poor girl!
