Keeping Marriage FUN

Let’s admit it. Dating before marriage was fun, exciting, and just plain fun!  When the honeymoon phase fizzles out after the wedding date, it’s easy to get sucked in to every day life and lose the fire that pulled us and our hubbies together.  Work, kids, chores, and millions of activities allow us to use the excuse of not having enough time for date nights.

Here are a few EASY ideas to keep the love burning!

  1. Have a late night s’more date together. Set a time to rendezvous in the kitchen, and make a little treat.  Have fun feeding each other your special late night snack!
  2. Put a little mail box in your house. When the flag is put up, it means there’s a love note inside.
  3. Writing weekly love notes to each other helps share your appreciation.
  4. Make breakfast in bed…or for dinner… and eat it in bed together.
  5. Pack your husband’s lunch for work, and leave a little note inside.
  6. Build a fort together, in your living room, and watch your favorite movies.

Yes, I actually did say that. Try it, I promise you will love every second. Marriage should be FUN! Simple ideas and time spent together is what helps a marriage to remain strong. Happy cuddling!

Please share some of your ideas for keeping your marriage FUN!

  • These ideas are adorable. I especially love the fort idea. Doing this without our sons would be incredibly awesome. It would feel like we were cheating on them a bit though. S’mores in the fort with the movies, YES!

Budget is a HUGE issue in our house. May I share the word about a great and inexpensive vacation idea that includes a sweepstakes? Tennessee promises to be beautiful this summer and I found something called the Pigeon Forge Family Challenge. It’s a sweepstakes to win a $10,000 prize and be one of five families to compete for a chance to become “Pigeon Forge’s first reality stars.” Here’s a link for more info: http://bit.ly/dXvvNL
    Thanks, all!

  • [...] Ashley LeMieux was someone I ran across one day during my blog searches.  I was so amazed by her blog design and beautiful photos, I had to read more.  I am so glad that I did.  She has so much to give to this world and her heart is so big!  She is a good example of what an angel would look like, if you believed they were here on earth.  Take a look at her Shine project, if you don’t believe me.  Not only is her project amazing, see what her husband has to say about her in “What It Is Like To Live With Me“.  I have never had the chance to meet her Ashley in person, but she shines so bright you can just see it in her writing and her pictures!  We are honored to have her contributing to Our Mommyhood, she has so much to share and I look forward to learning more from her example. Budget is an issue for us as well. We have worked out a babysitting swap with a friend. We both have similar parenting styles and kids around the same age. we both know and trust each other. She comes one Saturday and stays with our kids while we go out. The next Saturday, I go to her house and watch her kids so she and her husband can go out. It saves at least $50 each date and is so wonderful!

  • Fantastic ideas… some my huney buney and I already do… I am blessed and have a wonderful husband that leaves me little notes on my pillow (if I leave for work before he does). I just sent him a text asking if he liked s’mores… he text back yes y… I sent back… don’t you worry y… lol can’t wait to do this… it seems to me Ashley hit the nail on the head… marriage should be fun! After all, I choose to marry my best friend… whom else in the world would I want to have that kind of fun with?!
